Born in New York City, Pat Kaufman was one of the early pioneers in Soho and now divides her time between Sarasota, Florida and New York. Fascinated with human emotions, form and behavior, her books, plays and paintings celebrate freedom while taking a comically irreverent scalpel to the puzzles of love and justice, and psychic, societal and actual imprisonment. She has written and illustrated two other graphic novels, “O Florida!,” a snowbird’s political and geographical odyssey, and “O Ludwig,” a fable about the famous Bavarian king being trapped off the coast of Florida. She has illustrated “Child of Light,” a Greek Orthodox baptism book. Her novel, “Perpetual Kin, a Kipper to Caviar American Romance,” was published in 2002.
